Flags are fascinating because of their colorful design and exciting pictorial program, but there is often more to flags than initially meets the eye: What connects the swan with singing clubs and what rules applied to warrior club flags? These and other questions are discussed in this publication. The reader can expect a wide-ranging investigation of the most diverse flags from the Börde district, which originated in very different contexts.
