Under steam

If the water boils in a pot with a lid, the pot lid starts to rattle. In a kettle, the steam produces a whistling sound. If water vapour was produced in a large boiler and passed through pipes, it could be used to drive machines. One example is the historic steam plough for tilling the soil on display in the Börde Museum. Film footage and steam engine models provide a vivid insight into the development and working methods.
